Since earlier this year my granddaughter often asks to play with my old Lumix DMC-TZ3, which I keep in a line of cameras on the bookshelf in our study. It’s become a bit of a routine: she comes in a points at the ‘camra’, I teach her something about how to use it – for example, which mode to be in to take photos and which mode to be in to view the photos. She learned how to press the button to take photos fairly quickly, but it took a few sessions to make her understand not to put her fingers in front of the lens – which she still does occasionally and I actually really like the photos where her fingers make an appearance.
The auto focus on the old Lumix works by pressing the button gently once, before taking the photo, and of course that’s rather advanced for a 2+ year old, so most photos are blurry, which I also really like. Here are the ones that made my eyes & mind happy.
